FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.

What are hair and makeup rules?  4-6 are not allowed to wear makeup.  For 7-9, minimal makeup is allowed including lip gloss, light mascara, pressed powder for shine only, and some concealer is allowed if needed.  10 and up are allowed to wear age appropriate makeup.  No flippers or wigs are allowed.  Hair extensions/weaves are allowed for ages 13+.  Spray tans are allowed for ages 7+ as long as they look natural; please no orange or dark tans.
2. Is it required for me to come back and crown my successor if I win a title?  No, but you are welcome to return and help with crowning if you wish to!
3. Are there any rules against competing in other pageants if I win a title?  No, there are no commitments or requirements, and you will not be signing a contract.
4. What is the competition order (i.e. alphabetical, first in/first out)?  Contestants will be assigned their numbers based on "first in/first out" ... first contestant to enter is last in lineup, last to enter is first in lineup.
5. What is the deadline to enter the pageant?  The final deadline to enter the pageant is ONE WEEK before the pageant date.
6. Is there a time limit for onstage competition categories?  No official time limit, but we ask that you try to stay within 1 minute for gown and fashion wear categories.  Longer is not always better, as judges can consider multiple turns and poses as "overkill."
7. Can I add the Overall Supreme optionals later if I didn't initially select it?  We will accept the additional Overall Optionals entry and payment up to ONE WEEK before the pageant date.
8. Will there be a dressing room?  Yes, a dressing room will be provided and located reasonably close to the ballroom.  While we have never had a theft occur to our knowledge, note that the pageant and hotel are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
9. Will photos/videos be allowed during the competition?  No.  DazzleShot Images will be there to record and photograph the entire competition, including interviews.  Only your own interview and photos will be available to you for purchase.  Contact dazzleshotimages@gmail.com or their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/dazzleshotimages before the pageant.  If anyone is seen taking pictures or videos during the competitions, you will be asked to stop.  If it happens again, you will be asked to leave the ballroom.  Sorry for the strict rule, but (a) we don't want people getting in the way of others who wish to watch their contestant, and (b) DazzleShot Imagines is providing these services to us and they don't work for free.  Trust me when I say they are the very best in the business at doing this; you will be thrilled with your videos and images!
10. Can I accompany my 4-year old in interview or on stage?  No, we find that children of this age do just fine in interview and on stage, and can in fact do better without a parent to look at and rely on.  For Gown and Fun Fashion, if you need to gently prompt your child from the audience, feel free to do so but know that the judges may notice if the child is looking at you for direction, especially if you are behind them waving your arms and gesturing.  An occasional gentle prompt is fine, but please don't block the view of the audience.
11. Will practice time be available on stage?  After you register, the stage will be available for practice, as well as during interviews.
12. Will there be a hair and makeup person available at the pageant?  We do not arrange for hair and makeup people.  Feel free to contact someone and ask them to come if you are interested in that service.  If we are made aware that any are attending, we will be happy to assist in providing you with contact information.  Note that many people will not have professional hair and makeup, and it is not necessary to win.
13. Will there be a facebook group for the pageant?  Yes, we will create a group once we start getting contestants.  PLEASE REFER TO IT OFTEN, as we will post information and answer questions in the group.  You can also "meet" other contestants in the group and make some friends before you even arrive!
